When: Saturday, March 9, 3:30 – 6PM with dinner to follow

Where: Chicken N Pickle, 1240 N. Greenwich Road (in front of the Warren East and The Alley, diagonally across the intersection from Walser dealerships)

Join your fellow Wichita Region members to try out the new restaurant/bar/sporting venue and the game of pickle ball. The club will be paying for the court time and equipment rental so that members can come out, have a good time and learn how to play the game. Our court time starts at 4:00 sharp so we need to get there by around 3:30 so that we can learn the rules and how to play the game. After we finish playing at 6:00 we will walk across the courtyard to the restaurant for dinner.

For those not familiar with the game it is a mix of ping pong, tennis and badminton. We will plan to play doubles. The court is smaller than a tennis court and we can use our two courts, one for a more competitive game and the other for a less competitive game or practice. If you can play ping pong you can play pickle ball. It is way less strenuous than tennis and maybe a little more active than ping pong. You should wear loose clothing and athletic shoes, not sandals or heels. There are tables and chairs at each court for spectators and snacks and beverages are available to purchase.

For those not familiar with the facility it is a big building between The Alley and the restaurants along both 13 th and Greenwich. The best parking is on the east side. The pickle ball courts are in the southern building and we will be on courts 5 and 6. After we finish playing we will walk across the courtyard to the north building for dinner and more fun and games. In the game room in the north building there is ping pong, shuffleboard, foosball, corn hole and Jenga which are free to play. There is a full bar with an extensive selection of beers on tap and in bottles as well as wine and mixed drinks.

Food offerings include rotisserie chicken, ribs, sandwiches, soups and entre salads as well as various side dishes. Beverages and food will be at the members expense. Members can stay and play other games and socialize as long as they want.

We need for members to register on the website (wrpca.wildapricot.org) if you want to play pickle ball so we can have a headcount to arrange the right amount of equipment and number of courts. Registration is open now and must be completed by midnight on Thursday, March 7 th . If you are only able to come for dinner at 6:00 no registration is necessary. If you are only coming to watch you will miss out on the fun of playing but no registration is necessary. Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
