Ken Huston Memorial Charity Fund

Each year we start a new charity fundraising campaign to support one or more charities in our community.  Charities are selected by club members at the end of the year and usually awarded at our January Holiday Party and Charity Raffle event.

2016 charity funds were donated to Kansas Honor Flights in memory of our previous Charity Fund chair Ken Huston.  Ken was a great friend and long time club member known for being a talented DE driving instructor, as well as generous and passionate about the charity fund.

Ken started the tradition of passing around a coffee can for charitable donations at all PCA club meetings.  We honor that tradition today by passing the same coffee can, and naming our Charity Fund after him.  Ken's legacy was also honored by Porsche of Wichita in a video highlighting Courage for the May 2017 Panamera launch.  The video below featuring Lavonna Huston is a great tribute to Ken.

2017 Charity Fund

Thanks to the generosity of our membership we raised $3,600 in 2017!  During our November meeting we selected three charities to receive $1,200.

LAPP, nominated by Julie Bailey, a no kill animal shelter.

Child Start, nominated by Brenda Zickuhr.  Our donation will provide a college scholarship for a young adult who received Child Start services and is eligible for this award. Jan Arbuckle will be helping review  the applications. Theresa Rupp received the donation check from our club mascot, Ferry Beary.

Kansas Honor Flights, nominated by Shirley Anderson, supports veteran visits to Washington, DC.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our fund raising this year by attending the After Holiday Party/Charity Raffle or by contributing at one of our meetings.  And a special thanks to Porsche Wichita who contribute $3 from every meal at our monthly meetings to the fund.
